Santiago & Valparaiso
Bienvenidos a Chile! We are finally in South America and have taken it slow for the first week. We spent four days in Santiago to get over the jetlag, then moved on to Valparaiso for three days. From there we travelled further north to the Elqui Valley. more „Santiago & Valparaiso“
Goodbye Australia, hello South America!
Again another big part of our trip is over and we move to another continent. This is the time when our travel become somehow unreal and we can´t really believe what we are doing. We just got used to life in Australia, and now we are entering a whole new world. We are actually moving from Jens´ world to Sandra´s world. She lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina and San José, Costa Rica, so she is especially looking forward to coming back „home“. Our first stop is Chile, and Sandra has already been here 5 years ago.
We hope you enjoyed following our path through Australia and keep reading while we take you on a journey through South America. We have no flights booked, so the only plan we have right now is travelling along the west coast from Chile to Costa Rica. So look out for stories of Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Panama as well.
Sweating in Sydney
Our last stop in Australia and definitely a highlight we have been looking for – Sydney! As a contrast to the cold weather in the Blue Mountains during the last days, we got up to 47 degrees during our four days in Sydney! Can you imagine that? Sightseeing was almost impossible – but luckily sightseeing in Sydney includes a lot of beaches. more „Sweating in Sydney“
Rainy Blue Mountains
Endless valley views, waterfalls, impressive canyons, houndreds of lookouts and hiking trails – that´s the Blue Mountains. They got their name because of the blue haze that hovers over them. more „Rainy Blue Mountains“
On the road again…
The second part of our road trip took us from Fraser Island down to Sydney. By now, we had learned how to find free campsites and where to find nice picnic spots. The most beautiful part of the east coast was our next destination: more „On the road again…“
Roadtrip Part One
From Cairns to Sydney along Australia´s east coast – 2.645km. In total, we drove 4.100km in 21 days. We already wrote about some of the highlights, but this is the whole story. more „Roadtrip Part One“
Fraser Island
120km long and 15 km wide Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world. It got giant sand dunes, an highway right on the beach, the only rainforest that grows on sand, incredibly blue freshwater lakes and crystalline creeks. It is truly a paradise we couldn´t miss at Australia´s east coast! more „Fraser Island“
Two days in paradies
Water clearer than in a swimming pool. The perfect white sand that hurts your eyes while looking at it. Little lemon sharks around your feet. Swimming with turtles. Stand up paddling and kayaking. Watching the sunset with a glass of wine. Watching the stars at night out on the ocean. That´s sailing on a catamaran at Whitsunday Islands. If you are still not jealous, keep on reading the whole story. more „Two days in paradies“
A day at Great Barrier Reef
When we got to Cairns we couldn´t miss a day at Great Barrier Reef. more „A day at Great Barrier Reef“
