Nepal – our plans & expectations

Nepal is the first destination of our journey. It is a totally new culture and can´t be compared to any country we have been to before.

We are especially curious to see how much the country has recovered from last year´s earthquake. As far as we can read on the news, there are still a lot of destroyed areas and buildings, and people suffered a lot. We believe that visiting the country and spending money in local business will hopefully help a little to recover.

So far we only booked a hostel for the first two nights in Kathmandu. From there we plan to go to Pokhara and trek the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. It is a 10 to 14 day trek starting in Nayapul at 1.070m. The aim is to reach Annapurna Base Camp at 4.130m. Since we are both quite unexperienced with trekking in such heights, we do not know yet how quick we can move and how far we really get. We plan to hire a guide to accompany us on the trek. We haven´t booked anything yet and will try to find a guide as soon as we get to Pokhara. The trek will definitely be one of the most challenging things of the whole year!

Apart from that, we haven´t planned much because it might take most of our time in Nepal. In total we will be in the country for 25 days. So we plan two days  in Kathmandu, a few days in Pokhara to find a guide, ~12 days for the trek and then some days to recover. We will definitely get some further recommendations from other travellers on the road.

If you are interested to read more about Nepal, just check again after September 20th! We will keep you updated and hope to hear your feedback. In case you have any further recommendations, please let us know!
